Rose at Monserrate

Here is a link to a discussion concerning this "Monserrate Rose"
In this interesting article the rose was tentatively identified by Jocelen Janon as Souvenir de Mme Leonie Viennot. Now that this rose is flowering again I am posting a few more photographs in the hope that this ID can be confirmed/re-examined.

I should be most grateful for further comments.

Dear Gerald.

I still think this rose is 'Souvenir de Mme Leonie Viennot".
Do you have much prickles on it?

Cheers,
Jocelen.

Thank you Jocelen, no there are no prickles at all. The rose is very old and not vigorous, growing in the shade of a Quercus suber. This year it will be better looked after!

The Friends of Monserrate and Parques de Sintra are begining to replant a new rose garden this year.

rosarosam.com is wonderful, thank you for all your help.

Jocelen,

I found some prickles on a smaller plant of the same variety that also grows at Monserrate (a few metres from the larger plant and growing in the sun). The spines appear only on thicker, older stems, not flowering shoots.
